Tomic out of Italian Open; father due in court

ROME -- Bernard Tomic has withdrawn from the Italian Open, just days after his father was barred from getting credentials to upcoming tournaments because of an assault investigation.

The Italian Open website says Friday that the 53rd-ranked Tomic pulled out of next week's clay-court tournament in Rome and will be replaced by Xavier Malisse.
