Lake suspended 15 days
Trainer Scott Lake was to begin serving a 15-day suspension on Monday as a result of one of his horses testing positive for a banned substance in December at Aqueduct. The suspension was reduced from 30 days after Lake waived his right of appeal.
The Lake-trained My Cousin Matt tested positive for Clenbuterol, a bronchodilator, after finishing second, beaten a neck by Red Crusader, in the eighth race at Aqueduct on Dec. 29. My Cousin Matt was disqualified and declared unplaced in the order of finish.
Lake's suspension runs through Feb. 27, and he will be denied the privileges of the grounds of NYRA tracks during that period. Horses that previously ran under Lake's name have been entered under the name of trainers Steven Krebs and Gary Sciacca for Wednesday and Thursday.
Through Saturday, Lake was the fifth-leading trainer for the inner-track meet with 16 wins from 88 starters.
