Custom for Carlos rolled to a pacesetting 6 1/4-length win over 7-10 favorite Snapshot on Sunday in the Grade 3, $200,000 Jersey Shore Stakes for 3-year-old sprinters at Monmouth Park.

The second choice at 8-5, Custom for Carlos got the early jump on Snapshot, the decisive move in the four-horse field.

"My horse broke well and landed right on the lead," jockey Eddie Castro said. "This horse was going well and doing it fast."

Custom for Carlos earned his first stakes victory, improving to 3 for 6 for trainer Eddie Kenneally.

The time was 1:08.19 for the six furlongs.

Happy Bull was third, followed by Wildcat Brief, who broke through the gate prior to the start.

* Laureate Conductor ($5.20) rallied from last in the five-horse field to beat the front-running Ghost Five by three-quarters of a length in the $65,000 Choice Stakes for 3-year-olds on the firm turf.

Joe Bravo was aboard for trainer Christophe Clement as Laureate Conductor ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.08.
