Ankle injury sidelines Drosselmeyer

NEW YORK -- Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer is recovering from an ankle injury that has sidelined the 3-year-old colt for the rest of the year.

The racing manager for the farm that owns Drosselmeyer said Tuesday the injury was discovered about a month after the colt's three-quarter length win in the Belmont on June 5.

WinStar racing manager Elliott Walden said he anticipates the horse returning to training in 60-90 days and then running again in 2011. The schedule would call for a race in Florida early in the year before a trip to Dubai for the $10 million Dubai World Cup.

Walden added that if Drosselmeyer's return occurs in the 90-day range, the Dubai race becomes questionable.
