ARCADIA, Calif. -- Cambina extended her stakes winning streak to three races with a come-from-behind rally in Saturday's $150,000 Providencia Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita.

Cambina ($4.20) was seventh in the field of nine turning for home, but jockey Garrett Gomez weaved the filly through traffic to reach the front well in time, winning by three-quarters of a length over Whisper Louise, a 9-1 shot.

So Belle, a 6-1 chance, finished third, 1 3/4 lengths in front of Wave of Applause, who led by as many as 3 1/2 lengths but faded in the final furlong. Cambina ran 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:47.28.

Trained by Jeff Bonde for a partnership, Cambina won the Grade 3 La Habra Stakes on the hillside turf course in February and the China Doll Stakes over a mile on March 13. The added distance was not an issue, which was surprised Gomez.

"I thought the distance might hamper her, but the farther she travels, the more she goes," he said. She's not very big. She's not much to look at. She's on the right streak and has a nice turn of foot."

Cambina, a filly by Hawk Wing who began her career in Ireland where she was bred, has won 5 of 9 starts and $240,426.
