LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Aikenite was up in the final jump to nail Apriority on the wire in the 77th running of the Grade 2, $300,000 Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Derby undercard Saturday.

With John Velazquez giving a terrific ride for Dogwood Stable and Todd Pletcher, Aikenite paid $28.60 after finishing the seven-furlong distance in 1:21.40 over a fast track. Apriority, a 6-1 shot, was a half-length ahead of Ibboyee in a field of 12 older horses, with Capt. Candyman Can, who grabbed the lead turning for home, another nose back in fourth.

Aikenite was coming off a victory in the Grade 2 Commonwealth Stakes at Keeneland. The 4-year-old Florida-bred colt finished 10th in the Preakness last year.

The $2 exacta (1-3) paid $184.20 and the $2 trifecta (1-3-7) paid $2,399.60.
