Nobles, Helzer re-elected
Connie Nobles of Houston and Jim Helzer of Arlington were re-elected to the positions of president and vice president, respectively, of the Texas Horsemen's Partnership Quarter Horse board of directors. Also winning election to the board were Dr. Tommy Hays of Elgin and trainer Brad Bolen of San Angelo. The new members join Nobles, Helzer, Ted Abrams of Houston, K.C. Carden of Elgin, Darrell Hooper of Carrollton, Dr. Barry Thompson of Centerville and Tiffany Tobias of Athens, on the board. The THP Quarter Horse board represents Texas' Quarter Horsemen in negotiations with the state's racetracks on backside, simulcast and benevolence issues. The new board had its first meeting on February 9 at Manor Downs, where members were given a tour of the renovated Class 2 facility.
