Saudi Arabia breaks up no-no in style, goes on to win

8/19/2006

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Matt Timoney certainly
will remember this trip to the Little League World Series.

Timoney had two hits, including a go-ahead homer in the fourth
inning, and Andrew Holden homered and struck out 13 as Dhahran
beat Surrey, 5-0, in Pool C play.

The 12-year-old Timoney is the only player ever to appear in the
LLWS three times. The Saudi Arabia club is appearing for the
seventh straight year.

"I am more focused this year," Timoney said. "I'm used to it
now. Last year, we weren't focused as a team."

After Holden and British Columbia starter Justin Atkinson traded
zeros through three innings, Timoney homered to left field to
open the scoring. Holden followed with a blast well over the
left field fence for a 2-0 lead.

Timoney singled to start a three-run sixth for Dhahran, which
will play Saipan on Sunday.

Holden worked around two runners in the fifth and sixth innings
to complete a five-hitter.

Atkinson had two hits and struck out 15 for Surrey, which will
next play Lara, Venezuela on Monday.
