Mexico drops first game of LLWS doubleheader
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Kai-Ying Chen hit a home run on the second pitch of the game and Jen-Cheih Liu also homered as Taiwan (2-1) defeated Mexico 4-2 on Wednesday.
Rain wreaked havoc on the entire Little League World Series first-round schedule. Mexico, which was forced to play two games Wednesday, returned to Volunteer Stadium in the evening and was eliminated with a 11-1 loss to Venezuela.
"You have to mentally prepare yourself and be tough about it, and make the adjustment," Mexico manager Andres Martinez said through interpreter Sergio Guzman.
Little League president Stephen Keener said it was the first time he could remember that a squad had to play a doubleheader in the series.
