Louisiana defeats Washington behind Fontenot's 15 strikeouts
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Kennon Fontenot dominated on the mound with 15 strikeouts and added a triple and single at the plate as Lake Charles, La., beat Mill Creek, Wash., 5-1 at the Little League World Series.
Fontenot started the game with eight straight strikeouts. Washington broke through for a run in the fourth on Jason Todd's RBI single and threatened again in the sixth after getting two runners aboard with nobody out.
But reliever Gunner Leger got a popout and groundout to end the rally and the game.
Fontenot tripled to lead off the bottom of the third before being driven home on a double to left by Beau Jordan to give Louisiana a 3-0 lead.
