Pin makes first semi of her career
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Third-seeded Alina Jidkova of Russia advanced to the semifinals of the Vancouver Open on Friday with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over No. 6-seeded Rita Grande of Italy.
Camille Pin of France advanced to the first semifinal in her nine-year career with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory over 15-year-old qualifier Sesil Karatantcheva of Bulgaria.
The late quarterfinals featured second-seeded Milagros Sequera of Venezuela against Czech qualifier Nicole Vaidisova, and No. 4 Laura Granville of the United States against countrywoman, eighth-seeded Lindsay Lee-Waters.
