BALI, Indonesia -- Maria Vento-Kabchi became the first seed to lose at the Wismilak International when she was upset 7-5, 6-1 by Korean Yoon Jeong Cho on Tuesday.

The sixth-seeded Venezuelan, a semifinalist in Bali last year, struggled to come to terms with a more consistent opponent who mixed up her game with high returns that Vento-Kabchi struggled to put away.

Experienced Australian Nicole Pratt also fell, losing 7-6 (2), 6-4 to Italy's Flavia Pennetta.

Australian qualifier Samantha Stosur earned a second-round clash with U.S. Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova by defeating Milogos Sequera of Venezuela 6-2, 7-6 (5).
