Soderling rallies to beat Mirnyi in 3 sets
MILAN, Italy -- Fifth-seeded Robin Soderling of Sweden rallied to beat eighth-seeded Max Mirnyi of Belarus 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday to set up a final against Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic at the Milan Indoors.
The fourth-seeded Stepanek routed second-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia 6-4, 6-2 in an earlier semifinal at Palalido Sports Palace.
Stepanek broke Ljubicic in the opening game and then twice in the second set to reach the second final of his career.
Soderling saved a set point before losing the tiebreak. But the 37th-ranked Swede broke Mirnyi in the eighth game of the second set and twice in the third set and ended the match with an ace.
