Top two seeds Myskina, Li reach quarters in Sweden
STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- Top-seeded Anastasia Myskina, Li Na, Tsvetana Pironkova and Martina Sucha advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nordic Light Open on Wednesday.
Myskina, forced to a first-set tiebreak for the second straight day, beat qualifier Urszula Radwanska 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Second-seeded Li defeated Yulia Beygelzimer 6-4, 6-0, while Pironkova upset fifth-seeded Catalina Castano 6-4, 6-2.
Sucha advanced when Emmanuelle Gagliardi retired because of an injury when trailing 4-0 in the third set. Sucha lost the first set 6-4 and won the second 7-5.
Myskina, the runnerup last year, will next play Sucha. Pironkova will face Li in another quarterfinal on Friday.
The tournament is held at Olympic Stadium, built for the 1912 Summer Games and the oldest Olympic venue still in use.
