PORTOROZ, Slovenia -- Fourth-seeded Martina Mueller of Germany played a strong baseline game Wednesday to defeat Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and reach the Slovenia Open quarterfinals.

Mueller will next face eighth-seeded Tathiana Garbin of Italy. Garbin beat Emmanuelle Gagliardi of Switzerland 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Martina Sucha of Slovakia, who eliminated top-seeded Katarina Srebotnik on Tuesday, topped Maret Ani of Estonia 6-3, 6-4.

"I am very surprised because I was tired," Sucha said. "But I did what I had to do and hopefully I will get some rest in the next day."

In the quarters, Sucha will play sixth-seeded Maria Elena Camerin of Italy, who beat Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria 6-3, 6-3.
