Rezai's father convicted for fight with player's dad
SAINT-ETIENNE, France -- The father of French tennis player Aravane Rezai was found guilty of using violence against the father of a rival player.
Arsalan Rezai was fined $634 for fighting with George Ayassamy and using insulting language on the eve of the 2004 French championship for 17-to-18 year-old players, lawyers said Thursday.
The French Tennis Federation hired bodyguards to prevent another altercation between the men during the final. Aravane Rezai, now ranked 62nd by the WTA, beat Virginie Ayassamy in that match.
Arsalan Rezai, who immigrated to France from Iran, did not attend the trial last week.
