No. 1 seed Chakvetadze cruises in straight sets at Fortis Championships
LUXEMBOURG -- Top-seeded Anna Chakvetadze beat Meilen Tu of the United States 6-1, 7-6 (2) Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the Fortis Championships.
The Russian will next face fifth-seeded Marion Bartoli of France, who defeated Sybille Bammer of Austria 6-2, 7-5.
Also, fourth-seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia beat Zuzana Ondraskova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-1; Tatiana Golovin of France defeated Francesca Schiavone of Italy 6-3, 6-1; and Patty Schnyder of Switzerland beat Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
