Radwanska polishes off Kremer in less than 90 minutes
PATTAYA, Thailand -- American Jill Craybas and top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska advanced Thursday to the quarterfinals of the Pattaya Women's Open.
Craybas rallied to defeat Renata Voracova 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, and Radwanska cruised past former champion Anne Kremer 6-2, 6-2.
Craybas will play Andreja Klepac, who upset second-seeded Casey Dellacqua 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. Radwanska will face Tamarine Tanasugarn, who defeated Olga Poutchkova 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Akgul Amanmuradova defeated fifth-seeded Tzipora Obziler 6-4, 6-2 and will play fourth-seeded Chan Yung-jan, who advanced by beating American Lilia Osterloh 6-4, 6-2.
Radwanska, an 18-year-old from Poland, reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open last month. She delivered a mix of drop shots, lobs and spins to beat Kremer, the 2000 winner.
"The score looked easy but it wasn't," Radwanska said. "I took a lead 3-0 but then she came back at 2-3 and almost made it 3-3. But then I played more aggressive and I won long deuces at 3-2 in the first set and 4-1 in the second, which was important."
Klepac was satisfied with her play against Dellacqua.
"I played good tennis, but the second set I made a few mistakes and didn't serve well. I concentrated again and served better in the third," Klepac said.
In another second-round upset, qualifier Vesna Manasieva beat third-seeded Angelique Kerber 6-2, 6-1.
