Pennetta, Kanepi, Zakopalova among winners
VINA DEL MAR, Chile -- Top-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy beat Mathilde Johansson of France 6-4, 6-0 on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals of the inaugural Cachantun Cup.
Pennetta's next match will be seventh-seeded Kaia Kanepi of Estonia, who rallied to beat Maria Elena Camerin of Italy 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to make her second quarterfinals of the year.
Eighth-seeded Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic also advanced when scheduled opponent Jelena Kostanic Tosic of Croatia withdrew before the match with a neck injury.
Zakopalova's Friday opponent, Lourdes Dominguez Lino of Spain, also received a walkover win when second-seeded Gisela Dulko of Argentina withdrew with a leg injury.
Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain upset sixth-seeded Sara Errani of Italy 6-2, 6-0 to line up a match with unseeded Mariya Koryttseva of Ukraine, and fourth-seeded Pauline Parmentier of France meets fifth-seeded Martina Muller of Germany.
