Gonzalez cruises into BMW second round; Kohlschreiber withdraws
MUNICH, Germany -- Second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez cruised into the second round of the BMW Open, defeating Dudi Sela 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday.
Fourth-seeded Igor Andreev also advanced, beating Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-4.
Defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber, who was seeded third, withdrew shortly before his opening match because of the flu. His place in the main draw was taken by Julio Silva, who beat wild-card entrant Matthias Bachinger 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Tuesday's play was delayed by rain and several matches were postponed until Wednesday.
