Calleri, El Aynaoui, Gicquel, Simon, Hernandez advance
CASABLANCA, Morocco -- Agustin Calleri had 12 aces in a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Olivier Patience of France on Tuesday to reach the quarterfinals of the Grand Prix Hassan II tournament.
The third-seeded Argentine fought off four of five break points. He will next meet Moroccan veteran Younes El Aynaoui, who had 10 aces in his 6-3, 7-5 victory against Slovakia's Dominik Hrbaty.
Fourth-seeded Marc Gicquel ousted Argentina's Guillermo Coria 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 (2). The Frenchman moves on to face countryman Gilles Simon, who downed Serbia's Boris Pashanski 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
In the final match of the first round, Oscar Hernandez outlasted Canadian Frank Dancevic 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (5), setting up a match with second-seeded Gael Monfils.
