Americans beat Argentina to advance

DUESSELDORF, Germany -- The American doubles team of Wayne Odesnik and Bobby Reynolds defeated Lucas Arnold and Sebastian Prieto of Argentina 6-3, 6-7 (5), 10-7 on Wednesday at the World Team Cup.

They helped the U.S. beat Argentina 2-1 in the Red Group after splitting the singles on Tuesday. Sweden defeated the Czech Republic 3-0 and led the Red Group with five wins.

The Americans have four wins in six matches, and the winner of each group will meet in Saturday's final.

Simon Bolelli won two matches, helping Italy beat Germany 2-1 in the Blue Group.

Bolelli first beat Nicolas Kiefer 7-6 (4), 7-6 (0) in the second singles match and then teamed with Potito Starace to defeat Christopher Kas and Philipp Petzshner 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 in doubles.

Also in the Blue Group, Spain defeated Russia 2-1.

Spain got its second point when Feliciano Lopez beat Igor Andreev 6-4, 6-4. In doubles, Mikhail Youzhny and Dmitry Tursunov defeated Lopez and Marcel Granollers 6-3, 6-4.

Sweden's Robin Soderling and Robert Lindstedt beat Michal Tabara and Pavel Vizner 6-4, 7-5 to compete the sweep of the Czech Republic.
