Pashanski, Rehnquist advance at rain-delayed Swedish Open
BASTAD, Sweden -- Boris Pashanski beat Nicolas Massu 6-2, 6-3 in one of only two matches completed at the rain-plagued Swedish Open on Monday.
Massu, a Chilean who had to qualify to get into the main draw, was outplayed by the Serb from the start of the match.
"I practice quite a lot with Nico and he didn't play a very good match today," said Pashanski, who will next face defending champion David Ferrer of Spain.
Qualifier Bjorn Rehnquist of Sweden opened the clay-court tournament by defeating Michal Przysiezny of Poland 7-5, 6-2.
Rehnquist will play either sixth-seeded Gael Monfils of France or Swedish wild card Michael Ryderstedt in the second round.
Monfils made the semifinals of this year's French Open, taking a set off top-ranked Roger Federer.
Two other first-round matches were postponed due to rain.
