Mayr advances before rain washes out Gastein Ladies
The 206th-ranked Austrian, who entered the event on a wild card, will be playing in the quarterfinals of a WTA Tour event for the first time. Rain suspended play shortly after Mayr's win.
The match between seventh-seeded Iveta Benesova of Czech Republic and Galina Voskoboeva of Russia was interrupted at 6-4, 4-6, 1-1 and will be finished Friday. The other six matches were rescheduled for Friday.
Rain had also washed out play at the opening day of the Gastein Ladies on Monday.
