Errani advances to second straight tournament final
PORTOROZ, Slovenia -- Sara Errani beat third-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark 6-4, 6-4 on Saturday in the Slovenia Open semifinals to reach her second straight tournament final.
In the final, Errani will take on fourth-seeded Medina Garrigues, who overcame unseeded Julia Goerges 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Half of the 20 games between Errani and Wozniacki were lost by the server, with Errani breaking Wozniacki six times. Errani beat Medina Garrigues in their only previous match at Bali in 2007.
Medina Garrigues needed 2 hours, 13 minutes to put away Goerges and reach her third final of the year.
The Spaniard had an eventful May when she was runner-up at Fez, Morocco, then won her eighth career title and third at Strasbourg, France. She also won the French Open doubles for her first Grand Slam championship.
