Zvonareva, Xu, Craybas, Knapp among winners
GUANGZHOU, China -- Top-seeded Vera Zvonareva of Russia defeated Anastasia Rodionova 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the Guangzhou International.
Zvonareva will play Xu Yifan of China, who defeated Stephanie Dubois of Canada 6-3, 6-1.
American Jill Craybas advanced to the quarterfinals by upsetting sixth-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus 6-2, 7-5.
Karin Knapp of Italy defeated Mariya Koryttseva of Ukraine 6-4, 6-4.
