Zvonareva moves to semifinals in Guangzhou
GUANGZHOU, China -- Olympic bronze medalist Vera Zvonareva of Russia defeated Karina Knapp of Italy 6-1, 6-0 Friday to reach the semifinals of the Guangzhou International.
The top-seeded Zvonareva will next face China's Zheng Jie, who beat Austria's Tamira Paszek 6-2, 6-1 in another quarterfinal.
Fourth-seeded Peng Shuai of China downed Jill Craybas of the U.S. 6-4, 6-1 to set up a match with Camille Pin of France. Pin defeated Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-3.
