LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka have given Switzerland a spot in next year's elite Davis Cup World Group.

They defeated Belgium's Xavier Malisse and Olivier Rochus 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-3, 6-3 Saturday in doubles for an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the best-of-five playoff series.

They also paired to win doubles at the Beijing Olympics.

Federer beat Kristof Vliegen in straight sets in Friday's singles, while Wawrinka stopped Steve Darcisg. The reverse singles are set for Sunday.

Serbia also qualified for World Group play next year next year after Viktor Troicki and Nenad Zimonjic beat Michal Mertinak and Filip Polasek 7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 to secure a 3-0 lead over Slovakia.

In other results, Austria took a 2-1 lead over Great Britain after Jurgen Melzer and Julian Knowle took advantage of the absence of Andy Murray to easily win their doubles on grass at Wimbledon.

With U.S. Open runner-up Murray resting a lingering knee injury, his brother Jamie teamed up with Ross Hutchins and they were no match for the Austrian pair, who won 6-4, 6-3, 6-1.

Andy Murray will face Melzer in the first reverse singles on Sunday, a repeat of their U.S. Open third-round match in which the Scot came from two sets down to win.
