Top seed advances in straight sets
FEZ, Morocco -- Top-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain and No. 2 Alisa Kleybanova of Russia advanced to the semifinals of the Grand Prix SAR in straight sets Thursday.
Need the scores from any match played in today's tournaments? Medina Garrigues beat Lourdes Dominguez Lino 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5) in an all-Spanish match, while Kleybanova defeated Polona Hercog of Slovenia 6-3, 6-4.
Medina Garrigues, who lost to Gisela Dulko in last year's final, won on her second match point. She next faces Melinda Czink of Hungary, who beat Czech player Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 6-2.
Kleybanova broke Hercog once in each set and saved the only break point she faced in the second. She next faces sixth-seeded Ekaterina Makarova of Russia, who beat Marta Domachowska of Poland 6-4, 6-4.
