BUENOS AIRES, Argentina -- David Nalbandian may need surgery on a hip injury, which would keep him out of Argentina's Davis Cup quarterfinals against the Czech Republic in July.

Nalbandian told Argentine TV TyC Sports on Tuesday that his right hip is hurting more each day, adding that he expects to make a decision on surgery before the end of the week. He said he would need four to six months to recover, which would not give him enough time to prepare for the July 10-12 Davis Cup match in the Czech Republic.

He was expected to team up with Juan Martin del Potro on the Argentine team. Nalbandian, ranked No. 19, lost 6-2, 6-2 on Monday to Paul Capdeville of Chile in the first round of the Estoril Open in Portugal.
