PORTOROZ, Slovenia -- Defending champion Sara Errani routed Klara Zakopalova 6-1, 6-1 in 50 minutes to reach the Slovenia Open quarterfinals on Thursday.

It was the fifth-seeded Errani's first win against 2005 champion Zakopalova in three attempts.

Coming off the final at Palermo last weekend, Errani said she wasn't bothered by the 93-degree heat, saying: "I love playing when it's hot!"

In the quarterfinals, Errani will face wild card Petra Martic, who beat qualifier Vesna Manasieva 6-1, 6-3.

Camille Pin ousted eighth-seeded Petra Kvitova 6-4, 6-4, leaving only two seeds in the last eight, Errani and top-ranked Dinara Safina.

Pin will play Alberta Brianti, who defeated Olga Govortsova 6-4, 6-1.
