Rain cancels Pilot Pen day session
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Pilot Pen tennis tournament officials have decided to move the women's semifinals to indoor courts on the Yale University campus.
A steady rain led officials to cancel the daytime session, which was to have been played at the 15,000-seat Connecticut tennis center. They will instead be held at the newly renovated Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, which has almost no fan seating.
The match between Flavia Pennetta and Caroline Wozniacki is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on one court, with the match between Amelie Mauresmo and Elena Vesnina starting a short time later on another.
ATP officials have not said what they plan to do about the men's semifinals.
