METZ, France -- German seeds Philipp Kohlschreiber and Andreas Beck advanced to the Open de Moselle quarterfinals on Wednesday.

The second-seeded Kohlschreiber rallied to beat countryman Bjorn Phau 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and will next face Evgeny Korolev of Russia, who defeated Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (2).

The seventh-seeded Beck broke French qualifier Thierry Ascione three times before winning 6-2, 6-4. Beck, a finalist in Gstaad, Switzerland, will play fellow Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu.

The third-seeded Mathieu, the Metz runner-up last year, defeated Marc Gicquel 7-6 (5), 6-4 in an all-French matchup. Mathieu earned a decisive mini break at 5-4 in the tiebreaker and took Gicquel's serve in the opening game of the second set.

Also, French wild cards Michael Llodra and Sebastien Grosjean moved into the second round.

Llodra, a finalist in Marseille, hit 15 aces in beating Mischa Zverev of Germany 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Former world No. 4 Grosjean edged lucky loser Nicolas Mahut of France 7-6 (1), 7-5 to win his first match on the ATP Tour this year after recovering from a shoulder injury.

Mahut replaced Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, who withdrew because of illness.
