   PAST CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

2001
• Won back-to-back tournaments at home in Paris and Nice, France. Also won titles at Amelia Island, the German Open. Reached the final at Rome but lost to Jelena Dokic 7-6 (3), 6-1.

• Under pressure to be France's hope with Mary Pierce injured, Mauresmo fell in the first round of the French Open to Jana Kandarr.

2000
• Won her second career title by defeating Lindsay Davenport at the Sydney International, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

• Made the finals in Croatia and the Italian Open.

1999
• Had the best showing of her career at the Australian Open, where she lost to Martina Hingis in the final -- becaming the first unseeded woman to reach a Grand Slam singles final since Venus Williams reached the final at the 1997 U.S. Open. She beat three seeded players en route to the finals -- No. 1 Lindsay Davenport in the semifinals, No. 8 Patty Schnyder in the second round and No. 11 Dominique Van Roost in the quarterfinals. Her ranking jumped from No. 29 to No. 17.

• Won first WTA title at Bratislava defeating Kim Clijsters in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

• Reached the finals of the Paris Indoors.

1998
• At the German Open, became the first qualifier and fourth-lowest ranked player (No. 65) to reach a Tier I-level tournament final on the WTA Tour. Having never reached a quarterfinal on the Tour, saved a match point to qualify for the main draw, then collected her first wins over Top 5 players, ousting the world Nos. 2 and 3 players, becoming the lowest-ranked player to defeat two of the world's top three players in a tournament. Her ranking vaulted to a then-career high No. 34.

• As a wildcard into Prague, reached her second quarterfinal on the major tour.

• Scored third career Top 10 win over countrywoman Nathalie Tauziat, ranked ninth, at New Haven.

• Playing in her first U.S. Open, reached the third round and stretched No. 1 Hingis to three sets before losing.

1996
• Won the French Open and Wimbledon junior singles titles.
