8/20/2007

Three-time defending U.S. Open champion and world No. 1 Roger Federer and reigning French Open champion and world No. 1 Justine Henin will be the top seeds at the U.S. Open, which starts Monday.

Federer, the reigning U.S. Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open champion, is the No. 1 seed at the U.S. Open for the fourth consecutive year. Henin, the 2003 U.S. Open champion, is followed by No. 2 seed and defending champion Maria Sharapova.

Defending champions Federer and Sharapova clinched the 2007 U.S. Open Series titles, and will both play for a potential $1 million in bonus prize money.
