What to make of the 49ers?

The NFC East and NFC North contenders are locked in a low-level scramble. The Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints meet next Monday for a top-of-the-conference scrape. The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers have put together impressive runs. And then there are the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers, they of a 7-4 record after breezing past Washington on Monday. Are they legit contenders to get back to last season's heights?
