Before Saturday's St. Louis Rams-Cleveland Browns game, Twitter user @SquareKnight made the type of playful, hyperbolic statement that Twitter lives and breathes on:

You know what happened: In the fourth quarter of the Rams' 33-14 win, Sam followed @SquareKnight's tweet to a T.

But then there was that thing about the promise of drinks ...

Internet trolls, as they do, also had their say, prompting a clarification:

Still, despite negativity from frustrated fellow Twitter users who wanted a free beer, this story has a pretty happy ending:

The man, who did not want to be named, said he is donating $500.

Hoyer to start over Manziel

Although neither quarterback has had a particularly stellar preseason, the Browns have decided on Brian Hoyer over Johnny Manziel to start in Week 1. Hoyer struggled in their Monday night game against the Redskins, but Manziel didn't do much better, and he sparked a controversy by gesturing with his middle finger toward the Redskins' bench. Manziel may be the team's QB of the future, but it remains to be seen just when that will come.

Manziel's controversial moment

Johnny Manziel just can't escape controversy. Less than a week after showing up late to a team meeting, Manziel during Monday night's game at Washington flipped off the opposing bench. Manziel is facing a fine, of course, and now questions about his maturity (his performance, too, didn't exactly excite; he was 7-of-16 for 65 yards and a touchdown). What do you make of it all?

Should Johnny Manziel be fined for his middle-finger gesture during Monday night's game at Washington?

According to sources, Colin Kaepernick is about to sign a six-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers worth more than $110 million -- with a record $61 million guaranteed. It's hard to argue with the team's success under the soon-to-be-fourth-year man, but where does he rank among his young quarterbacking peers?
