NASCAR correct on Truex/Newman?

NASCAR made a statement Monday, and it wasn't just words. The racing outfit booted Martin Truex Jr. from its coveted Chase for the Sprint Cup because it found that Michael Waltrip Racing manipulated the outcome of Saturday night's regular-season finale at Richmond. In all, Truex, Clint Bowyer and teammate Brian Vickers were docked 50 points each -- although Bowyer's spot in the Chase was not affected -- general manager Ty Norris received an indefinite suspension and Michael Waltrip Racing was fined $300,000. Newman, meanwhile, gets a shot at the title. Did NASCAR make the right call?

Who will make the Chase?

Saturday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond is the last on the schedule before the circuit's 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup begins. For several drivers who need strong results to qualify for the Chase, the playoffs start now. Will defending champion Brad Keselowski overcome long odds and make the 12-car Chase field? Will four-time champ Jeff Gordon clinch a place in stock car racing's playoffs with a win?
