SportsNation had a good Tuesday. Newly former USC men's basketball coach Tim Floyd? Not so much. And Floyd's demise is part of why it wasn't a perfect day for voters in the Nation. SportsNation voters correctly predicted series-saving wins for the Magic and Penguins Tuesday night, but their long-term investment in Floyd's future tanked like "Land of the Lost."
A little less than a month ago, when allegations surfaced that Floyd had reportedly played a part in funneling money to a recruit, voters didn't think the hubub would cost the coach. In fact, 60 percent predicted Floyd would be USC's coach to open the 2009-10 season. Oops. Citing his diminished enthusiasm for the job, Floyd exited the stage.
Tim Floyd = The sacrificial lamb to try and keep the NCAA from going after Carroll and the football program.” -- wisdomcow
No one has brought up the fact that the potential depletion of his incoming recruits? I hope my Arizona Wildcats will benefit. They have brought on a solid (and ethical) coach that is rebuilding a great program. I suggest the recruits bail out from USC to a NBA factory in AZ.” -- mattshaff041
