Is the Reds' future bright?
The Cincinnati Reds finished off the regular season with a five-game losing streak, a tailspin that ended with their loss to the Pirates in the NL wild-card game. It's not all bad for the Reds -- Joey Votto and Shin-Soo Choo both had excellent years, and new addition Billy Hamilton wowed fans and catchers alike with 13 steals in as many games. Still, it's beginning to seem like time is running out for the Reds' current core, although manager Dusty Baker will have at least one more year to try for a World Series win.

Some of baseball's old-school traditions are fun. Some leave us scratching our heads. But Dusty Baker really raised eyebrows Monday with his suggestion that Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto and Cubs hurler Matt Garza settle their differences with their fists after Garza took issue with Cueto throwing a pitch over David DeJesus' head. While most baseball bench-clearing incidents don't end in fights, they can lead to injuries, as the Dodgers learned when Zack Grienke broke his collarbone earlier this season.
