Logano's Chase in jeopardy?

A report suggests Joey Logano's place in NASCAR's Chase for the Sprint Cup might have gotten a push when David Gilliland was apparently asked to let Logano pass him in the closing laps of Saturday's race at Richmond. It's not unheard of for race teams to help each other in NASCAR, but did this go too far?

Who will make the Chase?

Saturday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond is the last on the schedule before the circuit's 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup begins. For several drivers who need strong results to qualify for the Chase, the playoffs start now. Will defending champion Brad Keselowski overcome long odds and make the 12-car Chase field? Will four-time champ Jeff Gordon clinch a place in stock car racing's playoffs with a win?

Joey Logano has struggled lately, but he's back in the hunt after Sunday's win at Michigan International Speedway. Logano moved to 13th place in the Chase standings, seven points behind Martin Truex Jr. for the second wild-card spot -- all of this despite a 25-point penalty earlier in the year due to a rear suspension violation, and two 40th-place showings at Loudon and Daytona.

Here's a sampling of what readers had to say in our Facebook conversation on the story:
