Jeremy Lin looking to bounce back
Jeremy Lin was supposed to help revitalize the Rockets last season, but things didn't quite work out as planned. Lin didn't fall off a cliff, exactly, but he had a disappointing year, even saying recently that he felt that Rockets coaches lost faith in his play. He'll have plenty of chances to prove himself again this season, especially considering a lot of the focus will be on new arrival Dwight Howard.
Jonathan Bostic fined for hit
Jonathan Bostic put a devastating hit on Chargers receiver Mike Willie last week that had teammates and announcers alike crowing. The NFL thinks otherwise, evidently, as it fined Bostic $21,000 for the hit. Bears linebacker Lance Briggs expressed his dismay at the fine in a tweet, pointing out that D.J. Swearinger's low hit (which ended Dustin Keller's season) was considered perfectly legal by the league. It's just another instance of how making the NFL safer might be a doomed endeavor.
