With the NHL's trade deadline looming on March 11 (3 p.m. ET), it's time for general managers to take their turn in the spotlight.

Unlike coaches, who are judged almost exclusively by wins and losses, general managers are measured by a different set of criteria. After all, they pick which players to sign. They pick the scouts who pick the prospects and which players to trade for. And they pick the coach.

And some of them are better at it than others.
