Alex Rodriguez's admission that he used a banned substance dominated all other conversations on ESPN.com this week. The five busiest stories and columns about the Yankees slugger drew more than 20,000 comments.

Tennessee fans
ConnieMorgan57 had to be happy after the first Gatorade Duel on Thursday at Daytona. Read a full rundown in txtechjmacattack's blogs.

They weren't the only NASCAR fans excited about Daytona; fobw933 told us he's cheering for Junior, Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin.

That avalanche of opinion about athletes who use steroids, however, didn't bury other topics. Quarterback Brett Favre's second retirement surely caused the 1,116 people with Favre in their usernames to consider their virtual gunslinging futures.

Fans also piled up posts about NBA trade rumors, the All-Star weekend, Michael Phelps, the Daytona 500, rivalry games and the NFL draft.

A-Rod blogs worth reading
Liar, liar, filthy liar
By Eru Roraito
I bit my tongue when A-Rod slapped the ball out of Bronson Arroyo’s hand during the 2004 American League Championship Series. I kept quiet when he shouted while running the bases during a game against the Toronto Blue Jays in 2007 and distracted the infielder during what should’ve been a routine pop fly.

When he announced his decision to opt out of the final year of his contract during the eighth inning of the deciding game of the 2007 World Series, I merely shrugged it off as "business as usual." My loyalty to him remained through postseason collapse after postseason collapse, through strikeout in the bottom of the seventh with runners in scoring position after strikeout in the bottom of the seventh with runners in scoring position.

Now, you might be asking if this particular slip-up -- an offense that at this time is practically equivalent to murder in the sport of baseball -- is too much for even an A-Rod stalwart like me to handle. The answer is more complicated than a yes or no.

Professional baseball; they need to start acting like it

This whole steroid buzz is the accelerant baseball has needed to keep people watching. When Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were chasing Babe Ruth’s record and were hitting towering shots out of the park every time they played, I didn’t hear too many complaints. Did anyone see these two while they were chasing this record? They were built up like dump trucks!

MLB: This Bud's not for you

Maybe there should be a new monument to these players for kids to visit called "Cop-Out" town, one big hall of shame. Washington, D.C., would be a good location. The building would be shaped like a syringe.

Steroids shouldn't erase records
By cody7_7
How many home runs would Babe Ruth have hit if he was able to use better baseball bats and shorter fences? We can’t answer that question. But we shouldn’t say, well, since players today have that advantage over the Babe then the new records should never count. Steroids are just another advancement in technology to give players slight advantages.

A-Rod: Who cares? Seriously, who cares?
By DaShredda
They all do it. They all do it. A-Rod, Giambi, Bonds, Canseco, McGwire, Clemens, and the list goes on and on and on and on. 104 players tested positive. 104!!

I ask again, why do you care? How are you surprised that another MLB player is using steroids? Isn’t it obvious by now?

Witch hunts in baseball
By Tybae40
Do you really think that baseball is the only sport with a steroid problem? Do you think that the NFL, NHL and NBA don’t have steroid users? What about Shawne Merriman? He tested positive for PEDs, was suspended for four games and almost made the pro bowl that year and that story has gone away and everyone is still calling him the best defensive player in the NFL. No one mentions he used PEDs Where was his inquisition? Where is the Mitchell Report for other sports? Why does baseball get the focus over every other sport?

Trade possibilities fired up NBA fans. Who will go first in the draft? NFL fans can't wait to find out. The Bruins may deserve the NHL Power Rankings top spot, but why are the Panthers so low? After North Carolina won at Duke for the fourth straight time, is the rivalry "becoming a light blue?" Texas football fans weren't happy to lose to Oklahoma in the offseason.

The puck stopped here. UIFan49 used his head to H-O-R-S-E around. Westminster reminded us dog days don't all fall in summer.

The final word
"They're picking off a star a day. It's like the ending to "Goodfellas."
