Call it a backlash. Call it soul-searching. Call it revitalization. After weeks of all A-Rod and steroids all the time, fans were bursting with posts about why they still love and always have loved sports.

Jazz fans
Jazz fans wish their team were higher in the standings, but only the Lakers seem out of reach.

Popular topics included NFL free agency, the NFL draft, any game involving the Lakers, the topsy turvy top of the college basketball standings, Bracketology and Bubble Watch.

joe0878: Why I watch sports
When it comes down to sports nobody knows the final result. Not Vegas, not so called experts, not fans and not the players. I watch because nobody writes the ending for others to view later in a theater or on a couch.

I watch to see Vince Young take down USC. I watch to see the unbeatable Patriots fall to the Giants. I watch to see Jordan hit a game-winner against the Jazz. I watch to see a Monday night football game where Favre plays one of greatest games ever after his father dies. I watch to see the Kansas Jayhawks pull off a miraculous comeback to win the national championship, and I watch to see the next greatest game or biggest upset Hollywood didn't write.

DTJones2005: Why can't we say 'WE'
I'm a Cubs fan and when it does happen and the Cubs win the World Series, I will say WE WON, WE WON. It's not bad. I have, like many fans, invested money, time and a lot of emotion into them.

When Illinois lost to North Carolina in the NCAA Finals, I like some of the players felt like crying, I was on my feet the whole second half, jumping up and down, yelling at the TV. Same goes for the Bears in the Super Bowl vs. the Colts.

So, I ask, with so much emotion invested into your favorite team, don't hold back the WE. It's your team also.

Cavalierman007: The NHL six-step program
1. Stop selling Sidney Crosby as the savior of hockey -- My name is the NHL and I'm a Crosby-holic! The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. I know this is going to hurt some of my friends up north, but "Sid the kid" is not the best player in the world. For that matter he is not even the best player on his team (see Malkin).

gbp510: Steroids in sports
If they want to shoot up and suffer permanent physical damage, then so what? It isn't like we don't pay to watch NASCAR, boxing and the the Ultimate Fighting Championships. I really don't think the average fan gives a hoot about an athlete's health unless they are related.

bravesgirl85: The greatest thing ever, sports
I'm sitting here and I'm thinking about my first love: sports. I can't escape the grasp of how great it is. It connect races, religions and countries together. It speaks of the social time.

Talk around the leagues
Stephon Marbury bounced from his home court in New York to Boston. The NBA got a loan, and Roger Goodell took a pay cut. Marvin Harrison and several other franchise faces will be wearing new uniforms. Chiefs fans have a new QB and Redskins have another high priced free agent to fret over. A-Rod (only mentioned twice this week) homered and got a ride from his cousin. Pitt's loss added fodder for ever-changing Bracketology predictions. The soon-to-be No. 1 UConn Huskies changed the subject for Jim Calhoun, if only for a few hours. Hockey fans argued endlessly about who's the biggest NHL star.
