Utah State, American and Morgan State danced, but not long enough to become this year's Cinderella.

Xavier is still alive, looking for a spot in the Sweet 16.

Both teams are predicated on defense and rebounding. Both utilize a packline defense to keep opponents out of the lane. Both like to play the halfcourt offense more than get out in transition, preferring a final score in the 60s to a shootout.

With such a low-scoring battle expected, attention to detail becomes inherently more important, and both teams need to be able to execute the gameplan for 40 minutes. Here are five keys for each side that will go a long way in determining the outcome of this matchup

The fact that the Ags overcame a 14-point deficit and held their destiny in their own hands adds some extra sting to season-ending defeat. There was no doubt who most of the packed Taco Bell Arena was backing, and despite the differential in seeding it was clear who most of those fans expected to move on.

Eagles start strong, fade fast in loss to Villanova

For 20 minutes, the proverbial clock seemed stuck at 11:59, keeping the Cinderella dream alive for the AU Eagles in their bid to defeat the Villanova University Wildcats Thursday night. Yet, as the final buzzer sounded, that clock finally struck midnight, ending the dream of a historic upset on the way to a 80-67 loss in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

AU basketball gave all in NCAA game

When AU was standing next to Villanova before the tip-off, you could tell the difference between the two squads. Villanova's players were bigger, taller and more seasoned than the Eagles'. It is an unfortunate side effect of the difference in the two conferences.

AU had the opportunity to step up and show the nation that they're a legitimate program. The Eagles did and exceeded many people's expectations. They gave it their all and were not outplayed, but when it comes down to it, the Big East will always be better than the Patriot League.

Bitterwweet ending for Bears

The NCAA tournament game was the final chapter in the careers of three great seniors: Jermaine Bolden, Rogers Barnes, and Marquise Kately. Those three leaders had a tremendous impact on the success of the Morgan State Bears program. The big year, in which the Bears won 23 games this year and 22 the previous year, was an understatement. And they will be missed.
