It's all a joke to Graham Harrell and Texas Tech.

Another No. 1 team nearly fell this week, but managed to hold on in a close-fought contest.

No. 19 LSU came back from down a touchdown to force No. 1 Alabama into overtime, but a John Parker Wilson 1-yard run kept the Crimson Tide on top. It was a good thing, too, as Graham Harrell and Texas Tech made a huge bid at the No. 1 spot, with a 56-20 win over No. 9 Oklahoma State. Harrell threw for 456 yards and six touchdowns, completing 40 out of 50 passes.

Elsewhere, No. 7 Penn State's undefeated bid ended with a heartbreaking 24-23 loss to Iowa. No. 10 Ohio State drubbed former No. 24 Northwestern, and No. 8 Utah beat No. 15 TCU.
