Mets activate Wright

DENVER -- Star third baseman David Wright has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and is in the New York Mets' lineup at Colorado.

Wright suffered a concussion when he was hit in the head by a pitch from Matt Cain on Aug. 15 in San Francisco. At the time of his injury, Wright ranked fourth in the NL with a .324 batting average.

Mets pitchers Santana, Perez undergo surgery

NEW YORK -- Mets pitchers Johan Santana and Oliver Perez have undergone surgery and are expected to be ready for spring training.

Santana had bone chips removed from his left elbow Tuesday. Perez had scar tissue cleaned up in his right knee. Mets medical director Dr. David Altchek did both procedures in New York.

Mets to get two players for Wagner

Billy Wagner will pitch for the Red Sox this season, after all.

Wagner agreed to waive his no-trade clause in the final minutes before Tuesday's deadline and the fireballing left-handed reliever was traded from the Mets to Boston for two players to be named later.

The Red Sox agreed to not pick up Wagner's option for 2010, but they have retained the right to offer arbitration, which means that they still could get two draft picks for him if he departs as a free agent, a source told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney...

Mets' Wright released from hospital

NEW YORK -- New York Mets slugger David Wright was released from the hospital and put on the disabled list Sunday, one day after he was hit square on the helmet by a 94-mph fastball from San Francisco's Matt Cain.

When asked whether Wright could miss the rest of the season, New York manager Jerry Manuel said it's "a possibility" depending on how further tests come out. The club placed him on the 15-day DL after a 3-2 victory over the Giants.

Team spokesman Jay Horwitz said the All-Star third baseman was examined by a neurologist Saturday night and again Sunday morning before being sent home...

Strained oblique derails Delgado

PHOENIX -- Carlos Delgado's rehabilitation after hip surgery has been put on hold because of a strained right oblique muscle.

New York Mets assistant general manager John Ricco says the new injury occured while the Mets first baseman was working out over the weekend at the team's facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
