As a school, however, Don Bosco Prep is no stranger to this type of honor. Just 18 months ago, the Ironmen went unbeaten in baseball and were named the FAB 50 national champion on the diamond.

When the Don Bosco - St. Peter's game concluded Saturday early evening at Giants Stadium, we wanted to stay and do the Wayne Hills - Ramapo game. The swirling snow that started to stick on the field turf during the fourth quarter was piling up so much that before the opening kickoff, shovels were used to clear the snow every five yards. It looked like Foxboro with the Jets and Patriots. It was the kind of atmosphere that the game engineer back at our Madison Square Garden studios, Ray Santiago, always dreamed of playing in when he suited up for Perth Amboy High School a handful of years ago.
This championship game meteorological texture enhancement was not favorable at the start of Bosco - Peter's. The precipitation then was a cold, annoying rain that seemed on the verge of freezing rain. My color commentator Andrew Gundling spoke with me on the air about whether this would affect the game. It didn't. Our halftime guest, the legendary Mike Quick of MSG Network, was in the Bosco lockerroom before the game, and he heard Ironmen Head Coach Greg Toal preach to his players, "Make the weather your friend."
