The basic elements of football started at Penn's Franklin Field, Harvard Stadium and the Yale Bowl – three of our four oldest stadiums. Today they stand as monuments to the past, having essentially shaped college football and college athletics on the whole as we know them.

There was a time when Quakers fans actually were permitted to raise a drink to toast "dear, old Penn" right at Franklin Field.
